Synopsis
Gavin Mehl, a 34-year-old claims adjuster with a failing YouTube channel about rocks, films a three-minute meltdown after his car gets towed. The clip—raw, profane, strangely eloquent—explodes to 40 million views overnight. Suddenly every network wants the “real” Gavin, brands want his face, and a shadowy PR firm offers to script his next outbursts. As Gavin’s improvised rants start shaping elections and stock prices, he realizes the audience no longer cares what he actually believes—only that he keeps bleeding on camera. When a rival creator leaks a doctored manifesto in his name, Gavin must decide whether to reclaim his narrative or let the mob finish writing it for him.
The story
Gavin posts the clip after a mundane tow-truck fight; within 48 hours his phone detonates and strangers chant his name outside his apartment.
Signed by a media conglomerate, Gavin’s every word is focus-grouped and weaponized; friendships collapse as his ex and best friend sell competing tell-alls.
Gavin hijacks a live town-hall broadcast to deliver an unscripted retraction, forcing the nation to choose between the myth and the messy man beneath it.

INT. STRIP-MALL PARKING LOT - NIGHT GAVIN MEHL, 34, rumpled button-down, stands beside his booted Honda Civic. He holds a cracked iPhone on a selfie stick, voice shaking. GAVIN They towed it because the meter expired at 6:02. Two minutes. I was buying my mom’s blood-pressure pills. A security guard laughs off-screen. Gavin’s eyes flick to the lens; something clicks. GAVIN (CONT'D) You ever feel the whole country’s just one expired meter from losing its mind? He steps closer, voice rising, raw and strangely magnetic. A single sodium lamp flickers above him like a dying star.
Why now
In an era of algorithm-amplified outrage and overnight celebrity, the film asks what happens when the person behind the clip refuses to stay on-script—mirroring our collective exhaustion with curated authenticity and the dangerous thrill of watching someone burn live.
