Synopsis

Captain Nova Kane, decorated pilot of the battered cruiser Polaris, returns from a mission that nearly killed her only to face the true enemy: a 1980s-style microwave that refuses to ding. As she waits for her foil-wrapped protein pack, assassins from the rival fleet close in, drawn by the same signal that powers her galley appliance. Trapped between the ship's failing life-support and the assassins' boarding party, Nova must jury-rig defenses using nothing but kitchen gadgets and her own dwindling patience. Flashbacks reveal the domestic life she abandoned for glory, forcing her to decide whether survival means finally sitting down to a hot meal or blasting back into the void. In the end, the microwave dings at the worst possible moment, and Nova turns the ordinary beep into the signal that saves the galaxy, proving even legends deserve dinner.

The story

Act I

Nova docks the Polaris after a brutal tour and heads straight to the galley. She programs the ancient microwave and settles in for the longest three minutes of her life while red warning lights flicker unnoticed.

Act II

Assassins breach the hull; Nova uses thawing meal trays as improvised weapons and the microwave's radiation burst as a makeshift EMP, all while the timer ticks down with merciless indifference.

Act III

The ding finally sounds. Nova eats one perfect bite, then triggers the ship's self-destruct, escaping in a pod with the warm tray in her lap and the assassins vaporized behind her.

INT. POLARIS GALLEY - NIGHT

Fluorescent lights hum. A battered chrome microwave sits bolted to the bulkhead, its green LED display glowing 3:00. CAPTAIN NOVA KANE, 40s, flight suit unzipped to the waist, punches numbers on the keypad with military precision. She slides in a foil tray, slams the door.

NOVA
Three minutes. I can do three minutes.

She leans against the counter, eyes half-closed. The ship groans. A distant EXPLOSION rattles the deck plates. Nova doesn't flinch. The timer begins its slow descent: 2:59... 2:58...

Suddenly the comm crackles.

RAX (V.O.)
Captain, boarders on deck six. Shall I warm you a second tray?

NOVA
Just keep the timer running, Rax.
