Synopsis

After the sudden death of their matriarch, the estranged Thorne siblings resume a long-dormant Sunday ritual of sitting around the kitchen table and talking—really talking. What begins as polite catch-ups quickly deepens into confessions about affairs, addictions, and the lies they told their mother to protect her. As weeks pass, old wounds reopen and new alliances form, with the youngest brother secretly recording the sessions in hopes of preserving their mother’s voice through their own. Tensions peak when a long-hidden family betrayal surfaces, threatening to end the ritual forever. In the final Sundays, they must decide whether love means confronting the truth or protecting each other from it, culminating in a cathartic group decision that redefines what "family" means in the wake of loss.

The story

Act I

Following their mother’s funeral, the four adult siblings reluctantly agree to revive her beloved Sunday talks at the family home. Initial conversations stay surface-level until buried resentments leak out during a seemingly harmless dinner.

Act II

Secrets explode: an affair, a hidden debt, and a decision their mother made that altered all their lives. The youngest son’s recordings become both lifeline and weapon as alliances shift and one sibling threatens to walk out permanently.

Act III

A final, unfiltered Sunday forces every member to speak their truth without defense. They choose collective forgiveness, ending with a new ritual that honors their mother while allowing them to move forward separately yet connected.

INT. THORNE KITCHEN - DAY

Sunlight slices through gingham curtains. Four siblings sit stiffly around a worn oak table still set for five. ELIA, 38, stares at the empty chair. LILA, 35, clears her throat.

LILA
She always started with the same question. So…

MARCUS, 29, hits record on his phone under the table.

MARCUS
(quietly)
Go ahead.

ELIAS
How was your week?

Silence. Then SOFIA, 37, places a hand on Elias’s.

SOFIA
Mine was the loneliest in years. Yours?

The camera lingers on Raymond, 68, at the head, eyes wet, fork untouched. Outside, church bells ring.

Why now

In an era of surface-level texts and pandemic-forged isolation, audiences crave stories that validate the messy, healing power of real conversation, making this the perfect cultural mirror for a generation relearning how to show up for each other.
