Synopsis
In a gray city of earbuds and scrolling thumbs, Alex barely registers his own pulse until boredom forces him to eavesdrop. One overheard breakup leads to another conversation, then a whispered threat, and soon he knows too much about the woman in 4B and the man planning to vanish. What begins as passive entertainment becomes a lifeline as Alex risks everything to step out of the margins and into someone else's story.
The story
Alex drifts through fluorescent days at a soul-crushing logistics firm, his only stimulation the snippets of talk he overhears on the subway and in cafes.
Eavesdropping pulls him into a neighbor's abusive relationship and a coworker's embezzlement scheme, forcing him to choose between safety and involvement.
Alex confronts both the villain and his own numbness in a raw public showdown that finally lets him speak and be heard.

INT. DOWNTOWN COFFEE SHOP - DAY Fluorescent lights hum over mismatched tables. ALEX KANE, 34, sits alone with a laptop open to a blank spreadsheet. Earbuds dangle unused around his neck. He stares at nothing. Nearby, a COUPLE (30s) argues in hushed tones. WOMAN You said you'd actually listen this time. MAN I'm here, aren't I? Alex's eyes flick toward them. He leans imperceptibly closer. The argument grows clearer. The woman mentions an address, a key under the mat, someone named Marcus who can't know. Alex's fingers hover above his keyboard, typing nothing. A slow smile forms. For the first time all week, his pulse ticks up.
Why now
In an age of algorithmic isolation and post-pandemic disconnection, audiences crave stories about the radical act of paying attention; this film captures that cultural hunger with dark humor and emotional payoff.
